SPANISH PROPERTY STILL IN DEMAND AS SPAIN REMAINS TOP DESTINATION FOR RETIREMENT

3 Oct

Retirees from the UK are still turning to Spain as their number one destination for spending time in their later years. Many UK nationals are now to realize a Spain property investment for their later years.

There are a number of reasons for buying a property in Spain for the retirement years. The cost of living, for example, is much cheaper than it is in the UK. A couple can dine out at a good restaurant for less than 10 pounds. And the price of fuel is still considerably lower in Spain than it is in the UK.

Medical care in Spain is also top-class with many towns and cities investing in new hospitals and medical infrastructure. Coupled with the Mediterranean climate and all year round sunshine, retirees couldn’t hope for a more refreshing place to spend their time.

With sterling strengthening against the Euro and the relatively cheap price of property in Spain compared to 2007, there could not be a better time to purchase Spanish property for investment purposes.

Despite its current economic problem, Spain still remains the number one retirement destination for Brits – beating Australia, the USA, France and Ireland – and property prices are still resillient making an investment in Spain a good option.

Could golf resort properties in Spain appeal to investors?

12 Aug

One Spanish real estate firm has pointed out that properties located on or near Spanish golf courses have weathered the economic storm better than comparable homes on the coast.

This is the assertion of Taylor Wimpey de Espana, which noted that the value of such dwellings fell by a maximum of 20 per cent – significantly better than the 30 to 35 per cent decline exhibited among properties on the coast that are not near a golf course.

Investors may also want to bear in mind the firm’s argument that purchasing real estate on a golf course in Spain “can be a very sound investment”.

Good year-round weather and the rising popularity of overseas golfing holidays mean that rental income can be generated in every season, the company explained.

Meanwhile, managing director of Spanish-Living.com Adrian Warriner recently noted that the property markets in the Balearic and Canary Islands have fared better than many other parts of the country, with prices falling by just 2.5 per cent over the course of 12 months.
